Illnesses Associated with DS

A DS-diagnosed eldery personThanks to advances in both medical technology and health care practices, DS-Diagnosed patients are living longer than ever before. However, as Wiseman et al. (2015) state, they are also facing “a vastly increased risk of EOAD [Early Onset Alzheimer's Disease]”(p. 567). Symptoms associated with Alzheimer's can include:

  1. Displaying apathy towards other people
  2. Seizures (can be convulsive or non-convulsive)
  3. Changes in his/her personality
